The Mobile Photography Course has been created to provide an easy to use guide to unlocking the potential of a piece of equipment that you already own and a creative eye that you may not know that you possess.
As smart phones become more and more sophisticated, so do the built-in cameras that they come equipped with. While many of us just use these to take basic point-and-click photographs, they are capable of so much more, with just a little more understanding of photography principles, techniques, and the use of simple, but incredibly powerful (and cheap), editing apps, not to mention the various ways that images can be shared.
After a brief introduction, the course talks students through the basics of understanding the equipment they are using to capture images. This includes information on the difference between images created on a mobile phone compared with that of a DSLR and a point-and-shoot camera, what to consider when choosing a phone for photography, and some useful accessories for your mobile phone.
A lot of what makes an interesting image, interesting is not always about the technical knowhow of the photographer or the use of editing apps (though these certainly help and are taught in the course) but in the composition of the elements within the image itself. The Mobile Photography Course teaches students how to gain an ‘eye’ for a good image through some basic photography principles that can be incorporated into your photography straight away.
Now that you have taken plenty of stunning images, the course discusses various photography apps that can be used straight from your mobile device to improve your images or give them a different feel. Additionally, some of these photo apps also provide additional options for capturing your images, giving you more control than your phone’s native camera application. We discuss the various social media sites and apps available to share your work through, along with how to get the most out of them.
