And that’s why it all starts with traffic…
The thing is, most internet marketers never really stop and think about their traffic. Most never consider that their lack of traffic is the thing holding them back. And even if they did, they really wouldn’t know what to do about it. In just a moment, I’m going to show you how I conquered my traffic problems and now get up to 50k visitors PER DAY, but first I have a question to ask you:
Do you have a proven traffic strategy?
Do you know exactly what to do with each new site or project so it gets the visitors it needs to make money?
Well let me give you some free advice – if you don’t have a reliable traffic strategy, you are always going to struggle with online marketing. That’s a fact.
Believe me, I know that for a fact, because I used to be one of the struggling guys. I’m the guy who would just put up a new site and sit and wait for the visitors. I’d check the stats every ten minutes just hoping to see my first visitor. And after a few days I’d realise that the traffic wasn’t just going to happen on its own.
So I’d start again. I’d spend the days & hours building a new site. And then I’d go through the whole stat checking thing again. And obviously nothing would happen…so I’d get back to building another site, and the whole thing would start over.
I’m sure you get the picture. Maybe you’ve even been there yourself?
 If you have, you’ll know how frustrating it is. It can drive you crazy can’t it? You spend hours, days, weeks, even MONTHS building your new site. You hire expensive designers for the graphics. You slave away for hours just getting the HTML to work correctly. Then you finally get it online…and what happens?
Nothing. No fanfares, no traffic stampede. And certainly no profits. All you can hear is the dreaded silence of the rest of the world quietly ignoring your website.
And man, is that frustrating. It only takes a few of those situations before you feel like quitting. It’s hard to see how the big dogs are making their millions of bucks and getting thousands of visitors each day when you can’t even get 5 visitors a day right?
Let me tell you, for the longest time I didn’t believe a word of it. All the gurus, all the successful marketers you see, I thought it was all BS. I couldn’t get anything working, so why would they be able to? I mean, I’d had some success with Ebay and a few other bits and pieces, but the whole traffic thing was beating me every time.
But then things got even worse. Expensively worse.
You see, I discovered Google Adwords. Not a bad thing in itself, but I believed the hype. I thought I’d be paying 2 or 3 cents a click, easily getting all the traffic I wanted.
It started out okay. I kept my bids low and my budget low, like all the books say you should. I got a few clicks on my ads. No sales, but I was hopeful…and if you’ve used Adwords, you’ll know what happened next:
It got real expensive, real quick. My ad prices went up. WAY up…
Keywords I was getting for 25c per click suddenly needed me to bid $2.50 just to “activate” them. I’m no math genius but paying $2.50 per click is going to make it pretty tough to break even, let alone make a profit. But I kept at it. I don’t like to quit…and guess what?
I was basically banging my head against a wall. Going nowhere, getting more frustrated and desparate by the day.
Less than a month after I started I was in the hole to Google for $2k. I was basically like a gambling addict, just throwing money into Adwords in a desperate attempt to somehow hit it big and get back everything I’ve lost…
So then I did quit. I swallowed the hit and paid Google their fees. It was time to forget about Adwords, so I concentrated on finding other traffic methods…
It was a couple of years later, and I was in Vegas at an advertising convention.
I bumped into an old buddy of mine, someone I did some business with a few years ago. It was great to see him, we did some catching up, and I couldn’t help but notice that he was pretty much rolling in cash. I mean he was flashing serious amounts…
He’d always been a flashy kind of guy, but I’d never known him to have that kind of bankroll, so I asked him what he was into these days. I didn’t want to come right out and say it, but I was wondering how a guy like him can suddenly have crazy amounts of cash you know?
It turns out he’s into payday loan websites. And so I asked him how he gets his traffic – after all, the finance markets are maybe the most hotly contested on the whole internet. That kind of traffic is like gold dust, only more valuable…
And do you know what he said?
Adwords. It all comes from Adwords. Now I’m not going to lie to you, I laughed it off. If you do some research into financial stuff with Adwords, you’ll find people paying crazy numbers like $25, $50, $100 for a single click. So I didn’t believe him…I honestly thought he just didn’t want to share his traffic secrets. After all, most marketers don’t.
But he proved it to me. He grabbed his laptop and opened up his Adwords campaigns…and I was staggered. He was literally cleaning up, and his Adwords strategy was like nothing I’d ever seen before.
So I did exactly what any struggling marketer would do in that situation…I asked him question after question:
Why do my bids always have to increase? Why am I not showing on the first page? And tons more…probably the same stuff you’ve been wondering about your Adwords account. From there the weekend basically turned into an Adwords training course for me.
After that weekend I realised I was missing out on a ton of profit by avoiding Adwords, so I locked myself in my room, fired up the laptop, and set about taming the beast.
I can’t come out and say that I was instantly successful and made thousands of bucks in my first week, but I did break even right out of the gate. From there it wasn’t long until I was in profit. This was a huge change for me, I just knew things were different this time.
So I stuck with it. I kept at it until I’d worked a system out. A system when I could take a new niche and slowly work my way into profit from Adwords traffic. And I worked with it over the next two years. I refined it, trimming all the fat off and tweaking the mechanics, adapting and evolving to Google’s constantly changing battleground…
Let me tell you, my Adwords system has gotten very efficient. I get around 50,000 unique visitors across my sites every single day, and I average something like $108,939 profit per month…check out the proof below…
