In 2014 I was a fed-up advertising art director Googling, “how to make money online”.

I was 5 years into my career, barely scraping by, and the thought of becoming an 80 hr-a-week-working creative director—the next rung on the corporate ladder—was as appealing as a punch in the face.

I desperately wanted to start my own online business so that I could have the autonomy, flexibility, and freedom I’d been craving after reading Tim Ferris’ The 4-Hour Workweek.

There was just 5 problems…

• I had no special skills outside of my college degree
• And I already had 1 flopped online business idea under my belt

After learning about the self-publishing business model, which I pursued on the side after long days at the agency, I began publishing romance novellas and soon began generating substantial sales.

After a couple years I was making $4,000 a month, BUT…

…half of my earnings were going to the writers I was paying to write my novellas…

…and that meant I STILL wasn’t making enough to quit my job.

I felt like a failure, wondering why I didn’t seem to be able to break past the revenue ceiling I’d hit.

And I felt like even MORE of a failure when I got laid off from the ad agency right after the holidays at the start of 2017.

And when I got pregnant a few months later, I KNEW I had to find a way to make it work if I wanted to give my growing family a chance to thrive.

And that’s when I discovered low-content publishing.

With writers no longer necessary to scale, I was off to the races, generating over $100K in profits in just 14 months.
