Where you don’t see the beloved is where your work is. Everything that brings you down is a message. It’s a gift showing you where your mind is secretly clinging. This is your vehicle to liberation. If you’re turning away from anything, it’s got you.
When you let your consciousness expand so that you see the whole universe, you see how exquisitely lawful it all is, how perfect. You recognize your own higher self and how it has come into form to appreciate the perfection of creation. See that you are the created and the Creator. You are the lawful form unfolding and you are that which is behind the law. You are one of the many and you are the one.
We don’t really let our hearts go wide open because we fear it would all break. And because we armor our hearts from the suffering, we cut ourselves off from the life juice we need to be living Spirit. Turn around and look at death and look at pain and look at suffering and allow your heart to break and then see that with the broken heart you are still here.
Recognize that you are a being of the spirit and the light of the universe can pour through you. You aren’t who you thought you were — and in this very lifetime you can know it. If you feel closed from it, just quiet your mind and open your heart. Quiet the mind, open the heart.
Working on yourself is one level. On another level, there is no work. It’s all a dance, but on another level there is no dance. There is no time or space. It all just is. And as the Tai says, “The truth waits for eyes unclouded by longing.”
Fear comes out of your identification with your separateness. Freedom from fear comes from the identification with that in you which is not the separate forms. The minute you identify with that, you are no longer afraid.
You’ve been somebody long enough; now you can work on becoming nobody. The process of incorporating the universe into yourself is the process of making love to, and flowing with, and drinking from the mother.
The only way you’re going to feel at home ever again in this universe is when your soul acknowledges its true identity. When this transformation has occurred and you’re not busy being anybody, then the only thing that’s coming through is God. Then just like a river or a tree you never are out of the flow of the universe again.
We are like the fingers on our hands, all part of a body of awareness. Feel yourself to be the separate, unique entity — and also feel yourself to be the vast awareness. Play with that balance.
If you see happiness as the polar opposite of sadness, you put yourself in a bind. Happiness isn’t based on the situation being this way or that way. Let your happiness also embrace your sadness. Let your love also embrace your hate. Be in relationship to the universe as it is.
